UK Charity Announces Plans to Build Schools in East Africa

CAMBRIDGE, England, March 11, 2015 /PRNewswire/ --

Educate the World (UK) [Registered Charity: 1137077] has announced plans for a major expansion of its operations in East Africa moving from providing financial and logistical support to other organisations in the region to building and running its own schools.  The Charity plans to build its first school in Arusha in Tanzania which is only 2½ hours' drive from its East African Headquarters in Nairobi, Kenya which will ensure continuous and vigorous oversight, by our team led by Mr. Harrison Ikunda,  as the project takes shape ensuring donor's money is used solely for the purposes it is intended for.  The first school will be named after Christine Brockway, one of the Charity's founding trustees who died from cancer in October 2014 before she could see the first school built.  Educate the World [UK]'s Chief Executive, Dean Brockway said "There are still 58 million out of school children many from the poorest parts of the world who are missing out on an education every year.  Our plans for a school in Arusha are just the start and we will use this as an entry point for Educate the World [UK] run schools throughout East Africa and beyond."  In order to get this project up and running as quickly as possible Educate the World [UK] has launched a crowdfunding campaign via Causevox - http://tanzanianschoolproject.causevox.com/.  Dean Brockway said "crowdfunding is a great way of raising awareness of what we are doing as well as attracting donors from all round the world.  Any donation, however small, will help us to make a massive difference to the lives of the many children who otherwise would miss out on learning to read and write and end up with few opportunities in life."
