The report forecasts the global vision care market to grow at a CAGR of 3.83% during the period 2016-2020.
The report has been prepared based on an in-depth market analysis with inputs from industry experts. The report covers the market landscape and its growth prospects over the coming years. The report also includes a discussion of the key vendors operating in this market.
A trend which is helping boost market growth is the introduction of innovative contact lenses. With the gradual rise in the number of eye infections due to the use of contact lenses, several researchers have proposed the introduction of an antimicrobial coating on the surface of contact lenses to minimize the chances of an infection. These antimicrobial lenses are lined with a peptide called melimine. Though the risk of infection from an average pair of contact lenses is extremely small, the use of antimicrobial coatings reduces this by a factor of four. On average, 20 out of every 10,000 consumers using regular contact lenses are exposed to infection, whereas only 4 out of 10,000 antimicrobial contact lens users are prone to eye infection of any sort.
Further, the report states that one challenge that could restrict market growth is the problems in production faced by vision care manufacturers.
