LONDON, March 27, 2014 /PRNewswire/ --
The hugely popular Flashman series of books written by George MacDonald Fraser, has been re-invigorated by a new series of books by Robert Brightwell, set in the Napoleonic era. The third book in the increasingly popular Thomas Flashman series has just been published.
The original Harry Flashman was the bully from Tom Brown's school days, a cad and a bounder brought to life by MacDonald Fraser in a series of books from 1969 to 2005 until his death in 2008. Popular in both the UK and the USA, fans who miss this engaging rogue have found a new member of the family to enjoy.
As with the original series, they involve a fictional character engaging with real historical events. The first book is set around the extraordinary early career of Thomas Cochrane, one of the Royal Navy's finest commanders, the second is set during the second Mahratta war in India and the third in the Peninsular War in Spain.
Robert Brightwell says "Thomas is a rogue and a scoundrel like his nephew but the characters are not exactly the same as they lived in different times. In my books I try to bring to life some of the less well known but astonishing characters of the time such as Cochrane, the Begum of Samru and the Loyal Lusitanian Legion who with a few hundred men stopped a French Marshal and his army in its tracks."
The series is set to continue with an outline for at least another three books already planned out.
The three books to date are:
Flashman and the Seawolf - ISBN 9781781763636
Flashman and the Cobra - ISBN 9781782990055
Flashman in the Peninsular - ISBN 9781784074623
All are published on Amazon, with other ebook providers and via major book retailers and directly from the Feedaread publisher website.
