LONDON, December 15, 2015 /PRNewswire/ --
One would assume that the Christmas holidays aren't really the time for extramarital relations. And yet, if we are to believe the 8,000 people surveyed by the website Gleeden.com, you would be wrong. So what's the story?
According to a survey conducted by the extramarital affair website, which boasts 2.8 million members, 69% of people having an affair keep in touch with their lover during the Christmas holiday season. It would be easy to assume the contrary. Alibis are scarcer, the atmosphere is more family-oriented, and finding time to get away to be together is more difficult - circumstances would seem to complicate infidelity considerably. But that would fail to take into account the determination of some unfaithful spouses.
With regard to the means of communication used by unfaithful spouses in order to stay in touch, the majority (41%) say that they find excuses to see each other (Christmas shopping, emergency at work, etc.). Others (32%) say they mostly just communicate by phone. 20% of members surveyed use the Gleeden mobile app to stay in contact discreetly.
Lastly, 7% send each other sexy photos to keep the fires burning. Indeed, flirt 2.0 is alive and well!
On the other hand, few extramarital lovers give each other a Christmas gift. Is the risk of getting caught too great? Feelings of guilt?
In any case, men are slightly more likely than women to make this thoughtful gesture to their lover (46%). As for women, only four out of ten include their lover on their Christmas gift list (38%).
That said, when it comes to the budget, females are slightly more generous when reaching into their purses. 62% of women surveyed spend more on a gift for their lover than for their spouse, compared with 58% of men.
So it seems that lovers find it hard to stay away during the holiday season. Some even take the time to give each other a Christmas gift. As for those who must be further apart at this time, this only results in greater resolve to come together once more.
