MILAN, June 8, 2016 /PRNewswire/ --
According to new research by Whirlpool[1] into connected appliances at home, connectivity is having an enormous impact - changing lifestyles, making housework easier, more enjoyable and economical.
Following the launch of the first fully aligned suite of connected appliances in 2015, Whirlpool Corporation, the number one manufacturer of major domestic appliances in the world, released findings of a long-term test that assessed the real world performance of its connected appliances. The qualitative research followed 21 families during one year, all of whom were using the Whirlpool suite of free-standing connected appliances. The Whirlpool 6th SENSE LIVE suite offer Wi-Fi connectivity for remote monitoring and control via the Whirlpool's 6th SENSE LIVE app.
Overall the research found the main reported benefits of connected appliances arising from better decision making thanks to better information, combined with the ability to easily schedule and control the product remotely. Due to fluid and intuitive interfaces on smart devices users enjoyed interacting and were more willing to learn to use features. Interestingly, the simple factor of this user experience was helping to get more members of the family involved in housework.
The research proved when appliances such as washing machines, fridges and dishwashers are accessed remotely, it changes how they are used, making features more readily used and making it easier to monitor and adjust habits to optimise energy consumption.
