LONDON, February 3, 2015 /PRNewswire/ --
The preparation of Lunar Mission One's programme now in flight as Chaucer Consulting joins as project manager.
The Lunar Mission One programme recently entered the business preparatory phase for this incredibly exciting space initiative. Lunar Mission One will send an unmanned robotic landing module to the South Pole of the Moon - an area unexplored by previous missions. Chaucer Consulting is proud to have been selected as the business programme project manager for the preparatory stage of this initiative. Chaucer's initial role is to advise, shape and enable the overall programme during the next 6 months.

The mission will use pioneering technology to drill down to a depth of at least 20m - 10 times deeper than has ever been drilled before - and potentially as deep as 100m. This will provide access to lunar rock dating back up to 4.5 billion years to discover the geological composition of the Moon, the ancient relationship it shares with our planet and the effects of asteroid bombardment. Ultimately, the project will improve scientific understanding of the early solar system, the formation of our planet and the Moon, and the conditions that initiated life on Earth.
"Working on managing complex and ever-changing programmes is Chaucer's specialty," said Chris Laslett, Chaucer Global CEO. "The chance to be part of this programme and support its needs is something Chaucer seized with complete commitment. Our talented and experienced people are ever focused on delivering successful outcomes for our global clients. The Lunar Mission One project's progress will depend on the initial scoping and delivery of this preliminary stage. Our job is to ensure we can all be proud of what great delivery partnerships can enable."
David Iron, Founder of Lunar Mission One, stated: "We are very pleased to have Chaucer Consulting with us on the start of this journey. Their depth of experience and capability around programme and change management is exemplary. They have shown total commitment to delivering the needs of the project and we look forward to their continued support to get this initiative launched."
