EXETER, England, June 23, 2014 /PRNewswire/ --
Lincolnshire East Clinical Commissioning Group (LECCG) will be presenting their experiences of the OptimiseRx electronic medicines management clinical decision support pilot which concluded in early 2014.
LECCG are piloting the new integrated, patient contextual, medicines management solution with a view to addressing rising prescribing expenditure along with its particular demographic challenges (aging population with considerable prescribing over-spend).
Dr James Howarth, GP Chair Skegness and Coast Locality, said, "We wanted a point of care prescribing tool which was simple, quick, integrated with our clinical systems, adaptable, locally responsive, with as much emphasis on quality as cost-effectiveness."
Dr Howarth will detail his CCG's interest in, and expectations of, the OptimiseRx solution and show how local formulary and healthcare initiatives have been incorporated, while his colleague, Dr Fermin Blanco, will take attendees through a number of challenging prescribing scenarios that have benefited from the use of OptimiseRx.
Dr Howarth and Blanco's presentation, "Introducing point of care medicines optimisation support into NHS Lincolnshire East CCG; the concept, the practicalities and the benefits," will feature in the CCG Business Stream of the Commissioning Show on 25 June.
