Handsome Brands and Brand Matters Join Forces for Rebranding Awards Success
LONDON, April 2, 2012 /PRNewswire/ --
Brand Matters and Handsome Brands collected an armful of awards at this month's Transform Awards celebration. They won three Golds and one Silver for their work rebranding pub retailer Greene King and oil services firm Archer. The Transform Awards are Europe's only dedicated celebration of rebranding, repositioning and brand transformation.
Three of the Awards were for the rebrand of FTSE 250 pub retailer and brewer Greene King, with Golds in the 'Best rebrand from the consumer services sector' and 'Best brand consolidation categories' and a Silver for 'Best corporate rebrand to reflect changed mission/values/positioning'.
For Greene King, Ian Haughton and Simon John from Handsome and Brand Matters respectively created an identity that focuses on 'Authentic Hospitality', replacing the previously disparate and fragmented collection of logos and identities. The new identity is built around a new brandmark based on the Crown of St Edmund, a bespoke font and a colour palette inspired by the local Suffolk countryside - its designed to reflect the values of an authentic pub: genuine, reliable, knowledgeable, convivial and engaging.
And not content with two Golds, Brand Matters and Handsome completed their triumphant night with a Gold for the new Archer corporate brand in the 'Best corporate rebrand following a merger or acquisition' category. Simon and Ian worked with the client to create a new positioning, the Archer name and a bold visual identity for the merged entity of several oil services firms. The name communicates the company's attributes of precision, strength and craftsmanship and is supported by a strapline 'The well company' - a straightforward assertion of Archer's focus.
Since its launch last year Archer has raised over £100million for future investment and is now seen a heavyweight contender in the sector.
Ian Haughton, Creative Director of Handsome Brands said: "It's terrific to get recognition for these two significant rebranding projects. Perhaps more importantly our clients are very pleased with the results and the positive impact on their business."
Simon John, Creative Partner at Brand Matters said: "Both projects had their individual challenges, but they both demonstrate a grounded approach to brand strategy and an ability to produce creative work that is bang on brief."
