EUROSPINE – International Press Conference Invitation – 2 October 2013 – Liverpool // “Quality Control in the Treatment of Spinal Disorders”
LIVERPOOL, England, September 25, 2013 /PRNewswire/ --
For 4 days and for the very first time, Liverpool will be the European centre for international spinal research, when more than 3,000 spine experts, renowned surgeons, healthcare and industry professionals meet during the EUROSPINE annual congress, starting on 1 October 2013. The annual meeting is Europe's most important platform where orthopaedic, trauma and neurosurgeons, as well as conservative treating physicians and basic scientists such as engineers and biologists, come together to share the latest findings from their research.
The aims of EUROSPINE, the Spine Society of Europe, are to stimulate the exchange of knowledge and pioneering ideas in the field of research, prevention and treatment of spine diseases and related problems, and to coordinate efforts undertaken in European countries towards further development in this field.
Special Topic: "Quality Control in the Treatment of Spinal Disorders". The UK National Health Service Commissioning Board recently announced that mortality rates and other outcomes of surgery will be published for surgical specialties by this year. The publication of spinal surgery outcome data for British surgeons is anticipated late 2013 / early 2014 and work is on-going throughout the UK Orthopaedic and Neurosurgical societies on how this will be achieved. What data should be reported? What will the data mean? Will this help to drive quality or hinder innovation? How will this be perceived across Europe? As part of this year's press conference, seven European medical experts will present their latest research and answer questions regarding the subject matter.
