On this 3rd 269life worldwide event, hundreds of activists all around the world will protest the brutality in which humanity treats their fellow beings of this planet.
46 cities on five different continents will mark this day, by permanently tattooing and fire branding their bodies (the same way other animals are branded on farms) with the 269 symbol, in solidarity and protest against the treatment they endure by the billions each and every day.
To this day there are well over 600 people who have marked their body in this fashion! (Photos are added daily to the popular Facebook 269life page.)
The 21st of March is the UN's International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination. We have chosen this day to continue spreading our message of animal liberation.
We are acting in unity with the UN's intention for this day. The following excerpt is taken from their website:
"The theme for this year's event is 'Racism and Conflict,' highlighting the fact that racism and discrimination often are at the root of deadly conflict."
Carolina Bertolaso - Event coordinator
"I hope the 21st of March, all around the world, will be an occasion for animal rights activists to show how determined they are in achieving animal liberation. Let's never stop fighting. Not until the last cage is empty."
We at 269life ask: How does one claim to peacefully call for the end of racism while brutally murdering and oppressing other sentient beings?
How does one act against violent discrimination with a stomach coated with the bloody remains of non-human infants and their mothers' stolen milk?
We believe that there cannot be peace, nor an end to human prejudice while our hands are wet with the blood of billions of innocent animals!
Speciesism IS Racism. Go vegan - Free 269.
Join us in solidarity as we have the number 269 tattooed/branded on our bodies as a political statement in protest to the global animal holocaust.
This event was inspired by the actions of 269life and three vegan activists in Israel, who first took on the number of 269 in a public branding in Tel Aviv (http://youtu.be/RA4q1pU957c ). These activists encountered a calf in a factory farm in Israel who was marked with the industry-given number of 269. In order to give a face to the billions of faceless victims of animal slaughter for our consumption, the activists had themselves branded in the traditional fire-heated method long-employed by the farming industry.
WHO IS 269?
"269" is a calf who was born into an Israeli dairy farm. His life will be cut off not long after it started. By branding his number on our bodies, we show our solidarity with the victims of the animal holocaust all around the world, remembering to never forget.
On October 2nd of 2012, World Farm Animals Day, at Rabin Square in central Tel-Aviv, animal rights activists performed an act of solidarity and empathy towards abused animals exploited by the human race.
Ever since the movement exploded all around the world and has attracted much support and interest.
The original video rapidly crossed 200k views and the Facebook page has gained well over 20,000 supporters, in the short amount of time that has passed since the original event - in October.
