LONDON, January 9, 2012 /PRNewswire/ --
Shapero Rare Books is proud to announce the release of a catalogue of fascinating books charting the history of the stock market.
The catalogue comprises of a collection of 60 titles sourced from all over the globe, with a focus on Wall Street. Prices range from just £35 to £9,500 and the earliest dates from 1708.
"With the current financial climate, we felt it was the perfect time for a catalogue of books about the stock market," says Bernard Shapero. "A glance through the titles reveals that there is nothing new about our current situation. It is very refreshing and revealing to see how many of today's issues have been dealt with before."
The catalogue includes works on the following subjects:
· Novels
· Signed Books
· Humour
· Hedge Funds
· Fundamental and Technical Analysis
Highlights of the catalogue include the earliest printed record of the London Stock Exchange from John Castaing, a Huguenot broker dating back to 1708. In addition, there is an extremely rare fictional account of Wall Street from 1834, called The Perils Of Pearl Street.
For those looking for signed books - the great John Moody, founder of Moody's rating agency has penned a loving inscription in his Art Of Wall Street Investing (1915), to a future girlfriend.
A more lighthearted view is provided by Fred Schwed who casts a humorous eye on the sector with his celebrated "Where Are the Customers' Yachts?" featuring Peter Arno's wonderful cartoons.
The catalogue includes the earliest known work on hedge funds, a first edition of Scientific Forecasting by Karl Karsten, published in 1931.
Technical analysis is represented by a first edition of Edwards and Magee's bible (1948), Technical Analysis Of Stock Trends and the fundamentals are supplied by a very early edition of Benjamin Graham's The Intelligent Investor.
