LONDON, April 3, 2014 /PRNewswire/ --
Exhibitors present innovations across the design and production spectrum
In early June, MEDTEC Europe will once again be welcoming numerous suppliers and providers of medical technology. This international sector meets up at Messe Stuttgart to exchange news about their latest developments and innovations. This year, the focus is on new processes and materials for design and production. 3D printing, innovative materials such as technical plastics and high-performance polymers are a few of the trend topics.

For more than ten years, MEDTEC Europe has been one of the leading and largest trade fairs for the supplier industry to medical technology. This year, the sector get-together is being held from 3 - 5 June in the halls of Messe Stuttgart. Around 900 exhibitors are expected to attend from sectors as diverse as medical automation and clean room technology, as well as materials and packaging. On a site measuring 36,000 m[2] in surface area, companies in Halls 3, 5, 7 and 9 will be presenting tried and tested components as well as the very latest trends associated with development and production in the medical technology sector. As in previous years, the exhibition areas are divided into nine interest zones. New arrivals include trade fair forums such as the inaugural i-Zone, where several innovative startups will present together for the first time, the new Match-Making area for business contacts and meetings in a peaceful atmosphere, and the Networking Area for visitors to interact and talk with fellow experts, industry representatives and colleagues.
One of the highlights of this year's MEDTEC Europe is innovations and solutions associated with the trendy topic of 3D printing for the medical technology sector. Within this industry, 3D printing processes are gaining in importance for prototypes and for the final stages of production. This method does more than simply offer opportunities for saving money; models and products can now be created directly from the design data from CAD programs. Depending on method, meltable plastics can be pressed together in overlaid thin layers, or pulverized materials can be applied layer by layer to achieve the desired shape then melted together by laser. This process creates totally new ways of designing and shaping components, while also conserving resources during the manufacturing process. At the accompanying conference, MEDTEC Europe offers in-depth lectures on this latest innovation, alongside expert discussions in the Networking Area.
New materials and substances are another focal area for the medical technology sector. Manufacturers of medical technology products are always looking for new solutions to address ever more demanding tasks. High-performance polymers offer an answer to this, among other things: they are, for example, extremely geometrically stable, have great mechanical strength and rigidity, and are light, proving to be a good alternative to metals. Once again, experts will be delivering papers on, and conducting discussions about, this topic at the MEDTEC Europe conference in Hall 7.
"Trends like 3D printing processes and innovative materials are changing the face of medical technology in a comprehensive manner", states Ms. Fabienne Valambras, the Event Manager of MEDTEC Europe. "The sector is moving rapidly - a fact ably demonstrated by the exhibitors and topics at this year's MEDTEC Europe. Anyone seeking the very latest developments and innovations will find answers to their questions in Stuttgart. Once again, suppliers and service providers will be exhibiting innovations and intelligent solutions for the challenges of modern and efficient medical technology."
Once again, SÜDTEC is being held parallel to MEDTEC Europe, as an industry gathering for the production industry of southern Germany. Visitors will find the specialist trade fair in Hall 3.
