CHESTER, England, March 21, 2014 /PRNewswire/ --
Balance transfer period on WWF Credit Card extended to up to 24 months; WWF aims to build on millions of pounds raised by UK credit cardholders over the last 20 years
Charity credit card provider of the year* MBNA and WWF have extended the balance transfer offer on the WWF Credit Card for eligible new customers.
The WWF Credit Card from MBNA, which has helped raise millions of pounds for the charity since the relationship began in 1994, now offers eligible new customers zero percent interest on balance transfers and money transfers for up to 24 months from the account opening date* - up from 12 months previously.
The offer applies to transfers made within the first 90 days (a 2.99 percent handling fee applies to balance transfers and a 4.00 percent fee applies to money transfers), and the card also offers zero percent interest on purchases made in the first three months of account opening.
The new WWF Credit Card from MBNA is available for consumers to apply for now at http://www.wwf.org.uk/joinoradopt/mbna/.
When WWF Credit Card customers open an account and use their card within the first 90 days - at no cost to them - MBNA will pay WWF up to £40, plus £2 for every year a customer uses their card and 40p for every £100 spent by customers on card purchases.
"In 2014, we celebrate 20 years of partnership between MBNA and WWF - it is one of our longest standing affinity card relationships - and during that time, cardholders have helped raise millions of pounds for its tremendous work around the world", said Michael Donald, Marketing and Commercial executive for MBNA. "Last year alone, around 35,000 WWF cardholders helped raise more than £500,000 for WWF's work - that's around £15 per person, which is enough to provide a hand-held short-range walkie-talkie for community forest patrols or to build 10 metres of fencing to prevent snow leopard attacks on livestock in Nepal, helping reduce conflicts between farmers and these endangered cats."
"We take great pride in being one of the UK's leading co-branded credit card providers, with tens of thousands of charity credit cards in the UK market, and providing an important source of revenue for our charity partners", added Donald.
Charity credit cards help consumers regularly give to charity - it is done automatically and at no extra cost, and the chosen charity benefits every time a customer uses the card for purchases.
Representative example 18.9% p.a. variable on card purchases. This is equivalent to 18.9% APR representative variable based on a credit limit of £1200.
