London Evening Standard to Publish Multiple Editions per Day with New Tablet and Mobile App by PageSuite

The London Evening Standard has just launched a brand new app that utilises PageSuite's innovative feed-driven software and enables them to produce optimised templates for mobile and tablet devices, combined with a digital PDF of the daily newspaper, as part of their on-going digital investment.

Publishing multiple editions per day will require minimal resource due to the automated setup that has been put into place by PageSuite. The app, powered by feeds & templates, enables them to deliver selected editorial content into optimised editions, resulting in a more streamlined workflow. Through the user-friendly portal, templates can then be individually crafted and tailored for specific devices before being scheduled to process.

The increase in daily content will complement the current print edition and website and will enable the London Evening Standard to deliver more up-to-date news to their readers via phone and tablet devices at key points throughout the day. The app, which is available from Newsstand and also includes a PDF replica edition, a full archive and supplements, features full page interstitial ads, plus leaderboard and MPU slots, enabling the London-based daily newspaper to monetise their content and generate digital revenue.

The app features interactive puzzles, which can be played offline, a live weather feed and commenting options to offer users an enhanced reading experience. Articles can be expanded to view in full-screen mode, can be downloaded to be read offline and can be shared across the most popular social networks. Search functionality allows users to filter content by keywords, whilst the menu enables readers to skip directly to specific sections within the edition. The London Evening Standard is currently available to download across iPhone and iPad devices and will soon be available to download to Android and Kindle Fire devices too.

The launch of this new app coincides with the company's vision to increase investment in digital growth and innovation and to respond to the demand of their readers. As such, a new Live app will also be launched for The Independent in December.
