Showing how the relevant legislation in the USA, EU, and UK relate to each other thematically may not only assist companies in their design of relevant programs, but furthermore informs the design of an integrated, liability-based reporting and compliance solution.
"Seven recent laws in particular challenge companies to control for slavery-like conditions in their supply and provision chains," observes Dr. Chris Bayer, the author of the framework. The next step for iPoint is to make public an open-access anti-slavery reporting template that businesses may use for their supply chain reporting needs. To this end, the tool, aka eLRT (Electronic Labor Rights Template), is currently being reviewed by a stakeholder forum comprised of private sector, civil society, and government representatives to ensure the template's sensitivity, robusticity, and responsiveness to the present reporting requirements and at-risk labor practices. The template, along with the framework, will be available for download on the website http://www.elrt.org.
