Industrial Maintenance is a Key Factor in Sustainable Growth
HELSINKI, April 24, 2014 /PRNewswire/ --
EuroMaintenance 2014, in Helsinki 5th to 8th May, is one of the top events in Europe in the field of industrial maintenance and production equipment management. The Congress will feature over a hundred congress speakers from over 30 countries.
The EU 2020 strategy urges the whole of the EU to grow economically in smarter and more sustainable ways. The effectiveness of industry has a major role in achieving these targets.
Physical Asset Management and optimised maintenance is an answer to these questions in the field of industry.
"Adaptive, intelligent, risk-based, and proactive maintenance can help reduce outages and failure rates as early as the first phase," urges Aleksandar Jovanovic, the coordinator of the SafeLife-X -project. He will be a speaker at the EuroMaintenance 2014 Congress.
"Knowledge of maintenance has become an important success factor for a large number of companies. At the EuroMaintenance companies which have done well during the present recession in Europe, will share their success stories," says Göran Westerholm, Director of the European Federation of National Maintenance Societies.
Besides the EuroMaintenance 2014 Congress, the Expo will serve as a meeting place for maintenance experts, corporate decision-makers, and researchers in the field. At the same time, Messukeskus will serve as a venue for metal and engineering, and welding and surface treatment expos FinnTec, ToolTec, JoinTec, and Pinta.
KONE targets to be Preferred maintenance partner
"We offer a range of maintenance and monitoring solution that maximize the safety and reliability of KONE elevators and escalators, while also minimising downtime and interruptions," says Aki Tsupari, the director of KONE maintenance operations development. At the Congress he will be speaking about Maintenance, one of KONE's key global operations.
"It is fundamental that solutions support customers throughout the full lifecycle of equipment. The lifecycle starts with new equipment installation. Maintenance provides our customers the best customer experience and best lifetime value," Tsupari states.
Approximately one third of KONE sales come from maintenance of its nearly 1 million elevators and escalators in 50 different countries. All KONE service technicians are trained to use KONE's global processes and meet the quality criterion, but also understanding the local environment.
The best maintenance practices to be free to use
The goal of SafeLife-X EU-project is to improve the ageing management systems of infrastructure networks and industrial plants, so that their availability is maximised and their management becomes more cost-effective. The results of Safe-Life-X's multi-disciplinary work will, in the future, be free to use for EU companies.
"The EU project provides a framework for transparent and responsible ageing management of industrial plants and infrastructures. The project will capitalise on best practices for modelling, asset integrity management, decision making, and cost-benefit analysis", says Jovanovic.
SafeLife-X is also developing a European Standard (FprEN 16286-1:2012(E)) on a Risk-Based Inspection Framework.
"Extending the life of industrial plants and infrastructures is an enormous opportunity for business and society. The companies and the infrastructure operators involved in maintenance have an important role to play in the economic growth of Europe."
