English Victory at the Mega Poker Series Main Event 2012 in Nottingham
LONDON, March 13, 2012 /PRNewswire/ --
After a slow start on Day 1A with only 63 runners, Day 1B saw the number of entries go up to 151 and a further 13 re-entries on the second starting day boosted the entries to 227. The prize pool of £133,920 was distributed amongst the top 36 players and especially the excellent structure of this deepstack event with 77,000 starting stack and blind levels that last 77 minutes each attracted some of the best British poker players.
Sam Trickett, John Eames, Daniel Carter and WPT Dublin runner-up Charles Chattha all played in the second ever Mega Poker Series. WPT Champion Sam El Sayed also showed up at the Dusk Till Dawn and Team Black Belt was represented by Adam Goulding, Kevin Williams, Jamie Burland and Warren Wooldridge. Furthermore the Pro Team of online poker operator Poker770 was at the UK in full force including PCA 2012 Main Event finalist Ruben Visser, EPT 3rd place finisher Koen de Visscher and 2010 European Ranking winner Julian Herold.
A total of 5 Team 770 Pros made it into the money, as well as 3 Online Qualifiers that won their package on the iPoker network. However, only Julian Herold made it to the final table and a huge setup guided the path for start-of-the-day Chipleader Tom Langley to increase his Chiplead after he eliminated Simon Deadman with Kings versus Aces as a King hit the Flop.
Once the other two short stacks Nick Dhondt and Charles Chattha were gone, Julian Herold sent Sarbjit Kular to the rail and moved into 2nd place with 4 left. In a 3way all-in however, his Ace-King and the Ace-Two suited of Daniel Morgan lost against the Pocket Tens of Tom Langley, who entered Heads-Up with a solid lead over Andrew Hulme. The final confrontation saw Hulme at risk of elimination in a preflop all-in with Ace-Jack off suit versus King-Nine suited and a flush draw on the Flop as well as running two pair locked the win for Tom Langley.
