The German-based company Dr. Kurt Wolff announced that it will not run its well-known advertising slogan for the Alpecin brand "Doping for hair - only for hair" during the Tour de France.
The Giant-Alpecin line-up is the first German professional cycling team to be competing in the UCI World Tour at the Tour de France after many years of rest, thanks to Dr. Wolff.
The slogan "Doping for hair. Only for hair" is not a reference to the high-performance sport, the company emphasises. The claim is already ten years old and has nothing to do with cycling. Instead, the phrase refers to the well-known performance enhancement of the ingredient caffeine. The successful formulation of Alpecin C1 shampoo has therefore also remained unchanged.
The Alpecin caffeine complex is a potent formulation which includes caffeine, the trace element zinc and niacin. The caffeine neutralises the harmful effect of testosterone, which reduces the growth phases of hair and thus contributes to thinning hair and baldness. Alpecin's combination of active agents cancels out the inherited undesired effect of testosterone and activates the hair root cells. As a result, the hair growth phases are extended and the hair can grow again, even in old age.
