LONDON, Dec. 17, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- When senior business executives from leading and innovative global organisations present career advice to a group of 80 future business people, each will begin with a personal answer to this simple question: What advice would you have for your 18-year-old self?
Heidrick & Struggles (Nasdaq: HSII), the premier provider of Executive Search, Leadership Consulting and Culture Shaping services worldwide is providing a future leadership course designed to help young, talented individuals launch their careers. In attendance will be 15 inspirational young people from youth and education charity, City Year UK, which tackles educational inequality and offers a positive pathway between education and employment through a year of volunteering in London and Birmingham schools
Heidrick & Struggles will host the "Career Builder" course at its London office December 17-18. The two-day event will include a series of interactive modules such as "CV and Cover Letter Writing," as well as sessions providing insight about industry sectors ranging from consumer markets, financial services to technology. Senior executives as well as rising-star professionals and Entrepreneurs will share their work experiences.
The course faculty comprises senior executives from Barclays, SAP, Google, Rolls Royce, BT Group, GSK, the UNHCR, Ocado and Rank Group, and includes chairmen, CEOs, divisional heads, C-suite leaders and founders. The course will conclude with an inspirational conversation with rower and double Olympic Gold Medal Winner, Andrew Triggs Hodge.
"Getting a start in one's career is not easy – especially during a time when unemployment is still extremely high. Heidrick is extremely pleased to help these business leaders of tomorrow get started," said Richard Thackray, a partner at Heidrick & Struggles. "We are pleased to help guide and motivate the professional ambitions of these 80 talented and driven young people in what has become an annual event for our firm."
Sophie Livingstone, Chief Executive of City Year UK, said: "The young people who volunteer with City Year UK dedicate a year to inspiring and supporting disadvantaged children to do better at school. In return for that commitment, we provide a training and careers programme so they, in turn, can improve their own future prospects. Heidrick & Struggles' Career Builder seminar offers our volunteers an invaluable add-on to that programme; a once in a lifetime chance to hear from a range of senior business executives."
"I'd like to thank Heidrick & Struggles for this opportunity and the generous donations. This collaboration highlights our shared values and vision to help develop the talent of the future."
The sponsors of each participant have been asked to provide a minimum donation of £100 to City Year UK. This money will go directly to the charity.
