Shock & Horror Over Head Injuries Received by British Businessman in Dubai's Central Jail
DUBAI, UAE and LONDON, June 12, 2012 /PRNewswire/ --
Family & friends of Safi Qurashi, British businessman from South London who purchased the Island of Great Britain on "The World" in Dubai have expressed shock and horror over his treatment, following his collapse over the weekend.
Raheel Qurashi, the brother and UK family spokesperson stated "Safi whois into his 7th week of Hunger strike in Dubai's Al Awir central jail collapsed in his cell on Friday 8th June and was taken to the jail's clinic. After 2 ECG's showed a problem with his heart, he was rushed to the Dubai Police HQ clinic to be seen by a Doctor.Instead of the Police arranging an ambulance he was dumped in the back of a metal caged canine van. Upon arriving at the clinic the left side of Safi's face & head were severely bruised and blood clots had formed just above his eye."
Family members added "We want to know what happened to him. How did his head and face get so badly bruised? Was this a deliberate attempt to harm him because he is on hunger strike?"
A close friend of Qurashi said "This is unbelievable shocking treatment of someone who has collapsed and is suffering from chest pains. You would not treat animals this way let alone another human being. The fact remains that more and more evidence of his innocence is emerging every day. Was this a deliberate attempt to silence Safi to conceal a serious miscarriage of justice?"
- Safi Qurashi has always maintained his innocence stating that he owes no money to his complainers and was not given a fair trial to be able to prove his innocence. He remains in jail despite 2 court expert reports confirming his claim.
