Searches for Flights to Ukraine Soar After England Progress in Euro 2012

Searches for Ukrainian destinations up 1,325 per cent post qualifying match as England fans scramble for tickets to Euro 2012's host nation

In the hours following England's victory in Tuesday night's match against Ukraine, travel comparison website, TravelSupermarket saw an uplift in flight searches of 1,325* per cent to the host nation, Ukraine as fans scrambled for tickets to the teams quarter final match against Italy in Kiev. Searches to co-host Poland were also up 51 per cent as fans looked at cost effective alternatives to reach Kiev.

On Wednesday (20 June) searches to Ukrainian destinations had calmed down, however, Travelsupermarket still saw increases of 779** per cent on the week before. Interestingly, searches to Poland were then up by 140 per cent as fans realised this route to the next match may be a more affordable option.

With the team's crunch match on Sunday, travel experts predict many more fans will be keeping a close eye on flight prices for a potential semi-final against Germany on Thursday 28 June, assuming the German team beat Greece on Friday (22 June).

TravelSupermarket's travel expert Bob Atkinson said: "This is an exciting time for England fans. With the prospect of the team going through to the semis it comes as no surprise so many fans are keen to get themselves over to the host countries and soak up the atmosphere, even if they can't get hold of a ticket, the buzz around the fan parks will be fantastic.
