German manufacturer of mobile C-arms recognized for innovation management in the SME sector
Ziehm Imaging was honored last Friday in Friedrichshafen, Germany as one of the country's most innovative medium-sized enterprises. Ziehm Imaging, with headquarters in Nuremberg, has been manufacturing mobile C-arms for 40 years and is now the acknowledged technology leader in the industry. With its innovative solutions, Ziehm Imaging has played a significant role in the rapid development of mobile X-ray technology in recent years and brought numerous revolutionary developments onto the world market. The "Top100" jury especially recognized the company's innovation processes and its ability to efficiently leverage the complete value chain, from the initial concept to market success.
Global success through innovation
The Nuremberg-based manufacturer annually invests around 15 percent of its turnover in its research and development - a policy that has led to considerable success: Since the company was founded in 1972, more than 10,000 Ziehm Imaging C-arms have been installed in hospitals and medical facilities around the globe.
The product portfolio, of which 80 percent is less than three years old, covers the entire range of clinical applications, from portable devices for emergency medicine to liquid-cooled high-end devices for hybrid rooms. "Our strength lies in our focus on mobile X-ray technologies for intraoperative use. This strategy helped us secure the position as global innovation leader. I am therefore delighted about receiving the distinction as a "Top100" enterprise, which confirms this direction," explains Stephan Dippold, Executive Director of Ziehm Imaging GmbH.
Innovation as corporate culture
At Ziehm Imaging innovation is more than mere lip service. Research and development is bundled at the site in Nuremberg, Germany. Every day employees explore ways to push the boundaries of mobile imaging further in order to provide medical professionals worldwide with the best possible basis for decision-making and treatment. "As a specialized company, research and development play a central role. Our goal is to transform innovative ideas into new products to enable effective clinical work and improved results for patients," says Klaus Hörndler, Executive Director and Vice President of Global R&D.
