LONDON, May 5, 2015 /PRNewswire/ --
Across the UK the demand for skills in data-driven roles, such as Data Science, Big Data, Decision Science, Web Analytics and Customer Insight to name just a few, has reached the fever-pitch levels that have time and again been predicted by experts.

This demand is giving suitably qualified Data and Analytics professionals plentiful opportunities to explore pastures new while remaining very secure about their future job prospects. Harnham have surveyed over 1,200 people in this sector and found that 89% feel secure in their role, and that if they were looking to move to a new position they would expect a pay rise of 19%. It would be easy to pass this off as meaningless data, or overly optimistic on the part of the respondents, but the findings prove the opposite.
The average salary increase for those who did move to other jobs is actually 17%! Businesses large and small are therefore responding to the demands of jobseekers and paying substantial amounts to secure their services ahead of the competition. In addition, our survey shows that jobseekers are looking for much more than just better remuneration. Being able to inspect the work environment, the team dynamics, and the management capability, as well as being able to make a firm assessment that the business is able to keep up in this data-driven world, are all key factors that come into play when moving jobs. In fact, of those that changed roles in the last year 26% said it was due to an uncompetitive salary, but 24% stated poor management as the reason.
With the world's daily generation of data being measured in billions of gigabytes, and the number of devices that can have their data collected changing as frequently as the weather - think watches, fridges, cameras, cars and so on - the trend for this substantial skills demand can only increase.
