With Support From Crimestoppers and Investment From Sir Richard Branson, Ring Video Doorbell Officially Launches in the UK
LONDON, July 12, 2016 /PRNewswire/ --
Supported by Crimestoppers, Ring Video Doorbell offers security, monitoring and convenience to help make neighbourhoods safer
Ring, the leader in outdoor home security, today announced that its Ring Video Doorbell is now available in the UK, at Ring.com and in selected Currys PC World stores. The Sir Richard Branson-backed business that enables users to see and speak with visitors at their front door, hits the UK following proven success in reducing crime in neighbourhoods in the US.
The Ring Video Doorbell is a smart home solution that's reinvented the way we respond to people at our front doors. When motion is detected or someone rings the doorbell, the simple to install device streams live audio and HD quality video from your home's front door directly to your smartphone, tablet, or computer (via a free app on iOS, Android, and Windows), allowing you to see and have a live 2-way conversation with whoever's near or at your door.
Ring was founded in 2012 by chief inventor and CEO Jamie Siminoff and has since secured nearly $100M in funding from notable investors including Virgin Group founder Sir Richard Branson. Product sales have soared in the US and now Siminoff believes it's time to bring Ring to Britain.
Ring has helped reduce crime in the US, most recently by setting up a six-month program in conjunction with the LAPD to help reduce daytime burglaries. The campaign saw Ring donate Ring Video Doorbells to 10% of the Wilshire Park community, a district of Los Angeles. As a result, daytime burglaries in the district were reduced by 55% and no burglaries were reported where a Ring Video Doorbell was installed.
Jamie Siminoff, chief inventor and CEO of Ring, said: "We are excited to have the support of Crimestoppers as we enter the market and try to make neighbourhoods safer."
Sir Richard Branson, founder of Virgin Group said: "This is an exciting product and its mission to reduce crime in neighbourhoods is important, and it's great to see the business going from strength to strength. Jamie is a passionate and determined entrepreneur - it's great to see the company expanding into the UK."
"Crimestoppers is delighted to support Ring and its efforts to reduce crime and make our communities safer." said Rodger Holden, director of business development, Crimestoppers.
Ring is available to buy for £159.00 from Ring.com, Amazon.co.uk and on the high street in selected Currys PC World stores.
