VILLACH, Austria, May 23, 2012 /PRNewswire/ --
The SAW Symposium2012, September 20th-21th in Villach, Austria will focus on wireless sensors for harsh and environments. Latest technological developments and industrial applications will be presented.
The SAW Sensor Symposium is the exchange platform for research and industry to discuss the latest trends in SAW (Surface Acoustic Wave) sensor technology. Experts from Europe, Asia and America will attend and use the symposium to disseminate recent advances and demonstrate novel applications of this technology.
SAW sensors for harsh environments
Wireless sensors based on the SAW technology are in many cases the only technical solution for many tasks in process control. For example identification and measurement tasks in steel production, medical engineering and the automotive varnishing industry. SAW sensors consist of a piezoelectric crystal, which can withstand higher temperatures than silizium based RFID-tags. They function reliably under extreme temperatures (-200° to 1000° Celsius), and are robust to shock and radiation. Wireless SAW sensors have a wide field of application, for example temperature and monitoring RFID transponders for harsh environments, temperature sensors, pressure and force sensors. Industrial applications cover for example temperature and ID monitoring of slag vessels, pressure measurement in baking trays or monitoring of power lines or pressure monitoring for medical telemetry.
Research & Industry
The SAW Sensor Symposium will build bridges between the latest technological developments from academia and industrial applications. The program covers the latest research from academia and applications-related talks from industrial end-users. Key-speakers include Ken-ya Hashimoto (Chiba University, Japan), Thierry Aubert (Université de Savoie, France), Guido Michelon (SMS Concast Italy) and Peter Schlumpf (Unisensor AG, Switzerland). The symposium is held biennially and is organized by CTR Carinthian Tech Research, an industry-oriented research and development centre for smart sensors.
