Tablets and other mobile devices running the Microsoft Windows 8 operating system are due to be released later this year and will offer the peace of mind some IT departments have been looking for in the approaching Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) revolution, according to TAAP. The BYOD way of working relies on employees using their own mobile devices (PDAs, smartphone, tablets etc.) for work related purposes as well as for personal use.
Microsoft Windows 8 is keenly anticipated because it provides an 'iPad style' interface for the plethora of Windows devices which are available from a wide range of hardware manufacturers, and is suitable for both consumer and enterprise-orientated models.
The mobile software application specialist, TAAP, has welcomed the release of the new Windows 8 operating system, stating how there has been some resistance to adopting BYOD strategies in many organisations because of concerns about security, management, data control, and scalability.
The new Microsoft Windows operating system is designed to act in exactly the same way across all types of device including PC, tablet, and PDAs/smartphones. TAAP believes that this approach should mean that multiple device estates will be easier for IT departments to control.
