miDrive (https://www.miDrive.com), the UK's most downloaded app for learner drivers and instructors, has helped over 200,000 learner drivers get on the road in 2015. miDrive helps learner drivers find vetted, high quality, approved driving instructors (ADIs) in their local area. miDrive also provides an educational platform, assisting learner drivers through their theory test, practical test and beyond.
miDrive learners work through the DVSA Driver's Record with their instructor, progressing from level one to level five, in each of the twenty-four modules. Furthermore, miDrive learners benefit from a detailed 'Lesson Report' which they receive at the end of each lesson. The report highlights the route driven (through GPS tracking), and progress against the DVSA Driver's Record, in addition to written notes from their instructor. Finally, miDrive also assists with booking and scheduling of lessons, providing a secure and hassle free experience for both learners and ADIs.
Scott Taylor, CEO of miDrive says: "Road safety affects everyone. We're set on reducing the number of road deaths and injuries. Five people are killed every day on Britain's roads - that's five too many. One out of these five will be aged between 17 and 24. Taking into account that a significant proportion of the 17 - 24 year olds involved in accidents passed their driving test less than six months ago, we know there's a huge amount that our technology, approach and platform can do to help learners become better, safer drivers."
Scott continues: "Learning to drive is one of life's big milestones. It gives freedom - driving to work, driving to school, keeping in touch with friends & family, all on your own terms. It's exciting. In the UK alone, over 1,500,000 practical driving tests are conducted each year; however, the pass rate remains below 50%. We know that with a combination of our excellent instructors, the miDrive Curriculum and our innovative technology we can significantly impact these statistics."
During 2015 the company also launched a new theory test app that puts the fun into learning to drive and revising for the theory test by gamifying the experience. Users can learn solo or go head-to-head with other learner drivers. The app is free to download on iOS (http://apple.co/1Th6nsJ) and Android (http://bit.ly/1QHjq9x). The app and approach evidently struck a chord with learners, reaching #2 within all educational apps on Apple's App Store as well as learners answering over 12 million questions from the official DVSA theory test question set.
miDrive have won a host of awards for their educational platform, approach and innovation. miDrive were recently featured on Channel 5's 'The Gadget Show', winning their feature on driving tech (http://bit.ly/1MvPFAe)
