We Are Funny Project is Moving Home & Launching a Unique Funding Structure
LONDON, June 3, 2015 /PRNewswire/ --
The We Are Funny Project has been hosting Open Mic, Edinburgh Previews and household name comedians at Dirty Dicks for over 5 years but is now looking for a new home. The plan is to create a new dedicated Comedy Club/Podcast Theatre on the London landscape. The new venue will serve as a genuine comedy hub; not a pub basement or a nomadic weekly theme night but a comedy mainstay. Offering stage time for open mic to professional shows, and progression opportunities for the best of the new breed.
The Project is also now expanding at a rapid rate and its founder, Alfie Noakes, wants to offer fellow comedians and comedy enthusiasts the chance to contribute and benefit from this amusing endeavour. Investors will be offered with a choice of fine "Rewards" for contributing, in the form of comedy DVDs, tickets to the opening weekend shows, places on comedy workshops, your own bespoke 'Comedy Roast' all filmed for your own very personal humiliation. And, it goes without saying, there is even the chance to be serenaded by a lady in a penis costume.
The Project currently runs over 25 shows a month over two venues hosting around 350 performances, with 2,600 members of our Facebook group (this is approved membership so are very loyal), 1,500 Twitter Followers, 1,100 members of the Meetup group and a 4.9/5 star status on our Facebook page.
But as Vic Reeves rightly pointed out: "88.2% of statistics are made up on the spot."…
…with that in mind here's a video to tempt you into supporting a brand new kind of business venture…one where you are a genuine benefactor: https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/full-time-comedy-venue-with-we-are-funny-project#/story.
Alfie Noakes commented: "The project has been going for 2 years now and, though I have been promoting for 5, I believe that nothing shows strength like longevity. Allowing those that enjoy our events, both audience and performers, to have a more personal involvement and to benefit from its success in a way that I feel confident is totally unique."
