Vimeo's New Music Store Makes It Easy To Find and License Music For Videos

Vimeo will offer more than 45,000 tracks to choose from in various genres.  The advanced search feature allows creators to search the music library either by genre or more than 100 categories of metadata from tempo to mood. This means that video creators can filter their search results to fit their specific scenes.  For example, someone could filter their search to find acoustic guitar music that had a medium tempo and a silly mood.

Music Store provides users with three types of licensing options:

  • Creative Commons licenses (free, various licenses);
  • Personal, non-commercial, web-use licenses for the casual user ($1.99 per track); and
  • Commercial, web-use licenses for professional users ($98 per track).

Audiosocket, a music, media and technology company provides the Vimeo Music Store with a catalog of over 33,000 songs from more than 1,900 emerging bands, composers and record labels from around the world. Audiosocket curates their content to provide video creators with access to tracks from today's up-and-coming talent.
