Let us start with the North of Italy, the top of the boot, where Turin, a cultural and business centre, is growing 52 percent among the British and 69 percent among Italians. Ravenna, known for its world famous Byzantine mosaics, is growing 51 percent for Italians and 20 percent for the British.

We cannot miss Tuscany, where Orbetello, known for its beautiful beaches, is growing at over 50 percent among locals and quadrupling in reservations among the British.

For some time on the beach and a day trip to visit the Valley of the Temples, look no further than Agrigento in Sicily. Up 20 percent among the British and already a long-time stable among Italians, who keep coming down at a stable 3 percent. For lovers of water sports there is Trapani, growing at 20 percent among locals, has caught the eye of the Brits doubling in reservations at 133 percent.
