MUMBAI, India, May 22, 2013 /PRNewswire/ --
With the recent amendments in the Companies Bill, India is all set to become the first country to make the disclosure of CSR activities mandatory. According to the Standing Committee on Finance, 2% of average net profit for the last 3 years of companies should be made mandatory for companies with a net worth of INR 500 crore or more, or those that have an annual turnover of at least INR 1,000 crore, or companies with a net profit of INR 5 crore or more.
Against these developments, where primary stakeholders have a number of questions, UBM India is presenting the second edition of Giving Back - NGO India 2013 Conference, a not-for-profit, Responsible Business initiative that brings together on one common platform, the most influential change-makers on India's CSR horizon. This event, which focuses primarily on developing fruitful Corporate-NGO-Government partnerships for social welfare, will take place at Bombay Exhibition Centre, Mumbai, India from 14-15 June 2013.
"This is a crucial step towards conducting responsible business through inclusive growth. It is time to focus on building an enabling environment, channelising core competencies of NGOs, Corporates and the Government, and combining social innovation with business acumen", says Dr Bhaskar Chatterjee, Director General and CEO, Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs.
Apart from Dr Chatterjee, the platform will see several other experts who are at the centrestage of developmental activity of CSR in India, such as Dr Kiran Bedi (Chairperson, India Vision Foundation), S Radha Chauhan (IAS Joint Secretary Secondary Education, Ministry of Human Resource Development), Prerana Langa (CEO, YES Foundation), Ashish Chauhan (Managing Director and CEO, Bombay Stock Exchange), Lindsay Levin (Managing Partner, Leaders' Quest), Raj Gilda (Co-Founder, Lend-A-Hand India), Nisha Agrawal (CEO, Oxfam India), Praveen Aggarwal (Chief Operating Officer, Swades Foundation), Pushpa Aman Singh (CEO, Guidestar India) and Trishya Screwvala (Founder and Director, Raindancer) amongst others.
The Giving Back - NGO India 2013 Conference will address key concerns that primary stakeholders, such as the Government, NGOs, Corporates, Enablers and CSR Consultants need solutions to. Alongside the conference, the event also has an exhibition where NGOs can showcase their work absolutely free of cost, and free-to-attend skill-building workshops conducted by industry experts, to coach fledgling NGOs.
