SHEFFIELD, England, April 17, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Judd Trump has been cut to 14/1 for the Betfred.com World Snooker Championship after knocking out title-holder Neil Robertson in the opening round at the Crucible Theatre.
The Australian became the latest victim of the 'Crucible curse' which means no first-time winner has ever successfully defended the crown.
Recent winner of the China Open, 21-year-old Trump was maintaining his superb form as he triumphed 10-8 and meets Marco Fu or Martin Gould in round two.
Betfred spokesman Jon Wilde said: "Trump was an 80/1 chance for the world title before his heroics in China, which came out of nowhere. But he is developing into a real force within the game and his odds show that we now consider him a real contender in this tournament."
Shaun Murphy won all nine frames of his session against Marcus Campbell, needing only one more for victory, and the 2005 champion is in to 12/1 from 16s as a result.
Mark Williams leads 6-3 against Ryan Day and is 13/2 from 8/1, while Ali Carter opened an 8-1 lead over Dave Harold and was trimmed to 16/1 from 20s.
