Trends and "Made in Italy" jewels, designing the future of jewellery, are on stage at the 2013 Edition of the Hong Kong International Jewellery Show, taking place until March 9th. Italian Jewellery is a key player in a rich programme of events organised through a joint project between ICE - Italian Trade Commission - and Fiera di Vicenza in cooperation with the Hong Kong Trade Development Council.
The Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Center is hosting an area dedicated to Mega Trends in Italian Jewellery style and product devised and produced by TRENDVISION Jewellery + Forecasting, Fiera di Vicenza's permanent independent Centre that researches jewellery, watches and fashion accessories trends and styles. The area has been set up on the 4th floor (Concourse Area, booth n° CR-D01) of the Exhibition Centre.
Trends will play a leading role at the "Jewels of Italy" Parade, a catwalk show organised by ICE - the Italian Trade Commission, programmed on Wednesday 6th March in the Sky Lobby at 46°@ Central Plaza, where Masterpieces provided by 60 Italian companies are under the spot, interpreting the four Macro trends identified by TRENDVISION Jewellery + Forecasting's creative direction: Surreal Garden, Decorama, Folk-Luxe, High Vibrancy.
A mixture of Art and Nature: the paintings of Monet and the jewellery of Lalique, Impressionism and Art Nouveau viewed with Neo-Pop humour. Dali prospective, Man Ray hallucinations inspired the Green Global movement in all visual art and beyond. Handmade feelings, crafty finishes, complexed layers of materials and techniques make every jewel desirable.
Designers find creative inspiration in historical archives. The simplicity of the shapes come from the strong influence of the first half of the twentieth century, particularly from 1920 to 1940. The metals chosen are white gold, platinum and silver, as well finishes in black and white.
Decorative elements from local heritage, lost techniques bringing back to local craftsmanship using elements and materials related to folklore. Organic materials such as wood, ivory, bones, tortoise, are mixed with gemstones and combined with gold or alternative metals. Rough surfaces, oxidated, aged, hammered, engraved.
The key word is experiment, shapes are linear, materials and colours are fondamental ingredients for research and experimentation. Heclectic design, universal appeal, fashionista inspired. Technology inspires the color palette for metals and alternative materials new or recycled.
