LONDON, May 10, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Recent data from Google has shown an increase in the number of mobile travel searches; travelmatch.co.uk says this trend will make booking holidays through the internet even easier.
Data from internet giant Google has shown that the use of smart phones for online travel searches has increased significantly in 2011. Online travel specialists Travelmatch expect this trend to make the world of online travel even more accessible. The company looks forward to thousands of customers booking flights to resorts like Sunny Beach ( http://www.travelmatch.co.uk/holidays/sunny-beach-holidays.html) in Bulgaria from their smart phones.
In 2010, Google found that 6% of all mobile queries submitted to its search engine pertained to travel; this figure has skyrocketed to 20% in 2011. This has been aided by the growth of smart phone use, which last year increased by 169% in the UK. travelmatch.co.uk concludes that these strong figures from Google represent the start of a trend which will see more and more smart phone (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Smartphone) users booking their holidays on the go.
Alex Francis of Travelmatch (http://www.travelmatch.co.uk/) comments: "In recent months we have seen a significant increase in the number of people visiting our website from their smart phones. These figures from Google certainly reinforce this as they show a huge surge in the use of mobiles for searches across the industry."
Francis continues: "We expect this trend to change the way many arrange their holidays. Booking from your PC or office computer is certainly easy, yet people often make travel plans with their friends in social settings such as cafes. With smart phones it is now possible to do research and make bookings in these places. Over the past few years online travel has revolutionised the way people organise their trips - the increased use of mobile phones for travel related searches should make this process even easier, as now you can plan your trip to a great spot like Riu Helios (http://www.travelmatch.co.uk/holidays/detail/hotel-riu-helios-sunny-beach.html#state=BQoUKFAAUKAhAA&view=description) hotel in Sunny Beach, no matter where you are.
