STOKE-ON-TRENT, England, March 4, 2013 /PRNewswire/ --
An online holiday firm has removed barriers to overseas travel for disabled holidaymakers by adding wheelchair accessible villas to their portfolio.
More than 20 villas, which have been specially constructed for wheelchair access, are now included in Solmar Villas' range.
They are suitable for various forms of disability, and have been assessed and graded using the National Accessibility Scheme's rating system.
Ramps lead from the road to each villa, which have extra wide doors and spacious layouts. The villas are also equipped with fully automated central air conditioning systems.
Solmar Villas Managing Director Julie Blake said: "There are more than 10 million disabled people in the UK, with around 750000 of them being wheelchair users.
"We are expanding our portfolio to ensure all customers are catered for, and will be adding more adapted villas throughout the year."
The new villas, which are located on the Balearic island of Menorca, offer a spacious living room with dining area, a separate breakfast kitchen, a utility room and an adapted double bedroom, with disabled shower room facilities.
External grounds and sun terraces have also been carefully constructed to give excellent wheelchair access to the pool area.
Solmar Villas is a family-run business in the West Midlands, which has more than 19 years' experience in organising luxury, tailor made holidays.
They offer a wide range of villas, in attractive locations across the Mediterranean Ocean.
