BARCELONA, Spain, February 26, 2012 /PRNewswire/ --
Worlds are about to touch! This is the vision that has brought diverse companies together to form the TransferJet Consortium. The result is an open industry standard that allows anyone to share, store, and stream movies, photos, music, eBooks, games, magazines and other content across multiple devices with a simple touch. Come to see what all the excitement is about!
At ShowStoppers you will be able to see and try out actual products and prototypes equipped with TransferJet, a new wireless technology that allows two electronic devices to quickly exchange data. Capable of transferring data at a rate of 560 Mbps, any digital content can be sent within seconds. A simple spontaneous touch is all you need to send or receive data. One can also stream video or music continuously by placing a device such as a camcorder on a TransferJet cradle connected to a TV or stereo set. In the near future, one might download an entire movie program or magazine from a store by just touching with a smart phone. Commercial products incorporating TransferJet technology are available in various countries since January 2010. Initial products include digital still cameras, notebooks, USB cradle accessories and other categories of devices.
The TransferJet Consortium was established in 2008 by a group of international companies with the common goal of developing the concept, technology, usage models and markets based on the TransferJet wireless technology. Today there are more than 50 members including the world's leading CE companies, key component suppliers, mobile operators, test equipment vendors and certification laboratories. Representatives from these major companies will be on hand to explain how the consortium will be shaping the next-generation of touch-based products and applications.
