Tower Companies' Borchardt to Speak at Qatar International Sustainable Built Environment Conference

ROCKVILLE, Maryland, Jan. 20, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- The Tower Companies' Chief Sustainability Officer (CSO) David Borchardt is chairing a session on Management and Operations in Real Estate on January 28th as an invited speaker at the International Sustainable Built Environment Conference (ISBE), in Doha, Qatar, the capital city of the state of Qatar.  ISBE will address the latest research and developments in sustainable building design with guest speakers from Australia, Asia, Canada, Europe, Qatar and the US.

Mr. Borchardt, LEED® AP BD+C, is a Licensed Professional Engineer and LEED Accredited Professional who is responsible for the integration of the company's green vision and LEED® certified projects.  He ensures Tower's environmentally conscious and sustainable development goals are incorporated into future and existing buildings and land development. As a key company spokesperson, Borchardt speaks at national industry forums and meets with U.S. and foreign government-sponsored teams at the company's LEED Platinum and Vedic headquarter building, 2000 Tower Oaks Boulevard in Rockville, MD. Most recently, Borchardt presented to a delegation of engineers from Russia, sponsored by the US Department of Commerce, and, has conducted similar presentations to foreign-government sponsored delegations from China, Ireland, and Japan.  This is the first time Borchardt is traveling Overseas as an invited speaker.

Borchardt also teaches a course at Georgetown University Real Estate program in sustainability and development. In 2010, Borchardt presented at Harvard Business School, along with Tower partner Jeffrey S. Abramson, which resulted in Harvard Business Case 210070, "Design Creates Fortune: 2000 Tower Oaks Boulevard," (Macomber, John D., and Griffin James).
