Touch Medical Media has named Abd Tahrani, MD as the new Editor-in-Chief of their journal European Endocrinology, a peer reviewed, open access journal dedicated to the publication of topical articles in the endocrinology field.

Dr. Tahrani will become the first Editor-in-Chief of the journal.

Abd Tahrani is a National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) Clinician Scientist at the University of Birmingham (UOB), and a Honorary Consultant Endocrinologist and the lead for weight management research and diabetic neuropathy services at Heart of England NHS Foundation Trust, Birmingham, UK. His main research themes are: obesity management and treatment (including bariatric surgery), the metabolic consequences of sleep-related disorders in patients with diabetes and/or obesity, the pathogenesis of diabetes-related microvascular complications (particularly neuropathy and nephropathy), and the pharmacology of type 2 diabetes. Dr. Tahrani has been invited to speak at the leading national and international conferences and has authored over 80 peer reviewed articles and book chapters. Dr. Tahrani has received several national and international awards for his scientific activity and is a reviewer for the most important international journals.
