LONDON, November 6, 2013 /PRNewswire/ --
The Tinnitus Clinic has developed a new tinnitus treatment. Tinnitus Desensitisation Therapy, or TDT, can be used to treat all types of tinnitus and associated hearing loss, including the two most common forms - tonal and pulsatile tinnitus. The treatment is available from The Tinnitus Clinic, which has practices in London, Manchester, Birmingham, Cheltenham and Edinburgh.
Refined by the Clinic's Principle Scientific Audiologist, Mark Williams, over the last four years, TDT gives control over tinnitus awareness. It creates a 'habitual state' akin to breathing, so that the tinnitus doesn't break through to conscious awareness. TDT combines sophisticated Siemens hearing instruments and complementary therapies, and individual prescriptions are adapted as treatment progresses.
"The new therapy is a unique, break-through treatment. It uses specialist equipment and methodology to record the exact acoustic parameters of an individual's tinnitus. This information is then used to tailor a sound prescription, which draws attention away from the tinnitus sound, allowing the 'habitual' state to occur," explained Mark Williams.
"We're getting some fabulous results and are very excited about the breadth of patients we're now able to help, often with long-standing tinnitus and hearing-loss caused by a wide range of different circumstances - from work-related noise to aged-related hearing loss," Mark added.
Other exclusive treatments available at The Tinnitus Clinic include Acoustic CR® Neuromodulation; a pioneering treatment which provides a recovery pathway for tonal tinnitus.
