LONDON, March 20, 2014 /PRNewswire/ --
Boodles are delighted to announce that this Sunday, 23rd March, the brand will be showcased in a fly on the wall documentary from the producers of the award winning Inside Claridges. Titled The Million Pound Necklace: Inside Boodles, the programme will be an hour long and will air at 8pm on Channel 4.
Filmed over six months, the documentary captures the work, expertise and exquisite craftsmanship that goes into making Boodles' fine jewellery. The programme follows the creation of the Boodles Emerald 'Greenfire' necklace, from loose stones, to design, creation and launch; shadowing the four Directors, Nicholas, Michael, Jody and James each step of the way.
A British family business, founded over 200 years ago, Boodles aims to create beautiful, unique and contemporary jewellery designs with an awareness of fashion and a sense of adventure and fun.
Jody Wainwright (Boodles Director and Head of Stone Sourcing), who features in the programme, commented:
'We are delighted to be sharing our story through this documentary and hope that it will provide an interesting insight into the, sometimes mysterious, world of fine jewellery. Our 'Greenfire' suite, created using the finest emeralds from the Colombian Muzo mines, is one of the most ambitious and valuable collections that we have embarked upon, so we were thrilled that Channel 4 were there to capture our journey.'
Overall, the film captures the Boodles directors and staff as they strive for perfection in everything they do… with a few glamorous parties and some celebrity friends thrown in…
Inside Boodles: The Million Pound Necklace will air on Channel 4 on Sunday 23rd March at 20:00 and on 4Seven on 24th, 25th and 27th March. It will be available on Channel 4's online catch-up service, 4oD following initial transmission.
Boodles have nine shops - their flagship showroom is on London's Bond Street with further London Shops on Sloane Street and in Harrods, the Savoy Hotel and the Royal Exchange. There are three Boodles shops in the North West of the UK and one in Dublin.
The company was founded as Boodle and Dunthorne in Liverpool in 1798 and has remained a family company; it is now run by brothers Michael and Nicholas Wainwright, together with Jody Wainwright and James Amos.
