VIENNA, Austria, June 6, 2011 /PRNewswire/ --
- Interdisciplinary Seminar on Theory and Practice of Celerity, Duration and Space
The International ChoreoLab Austria (ICLA) - a cooperation project of Danube University Krems with Tanz Atelier Wien - invites dancers, choreographers as well as protagonists from various disciplines to participate in the seminar "(E)MOTION FREQUENCY_deceleration". Focusing on an expanded understanding of choreography, which links theoretical excursions and performative training, it will take place from August 27th to September 4th in the heart of Europe.
Interdisciplinarity between Science, Art and Culture
Created by choreographer and dancer Sebastian Prantl - director of Tanz Atelier Wien - the concept deals with the challenge of an adaptable seminar structure. Being the first education in Austria in the field of choreography, ICLA uses the synergy of two institutions to question the mechanisms of knowledge transfer and fill a relevant gap in the education system.
In the face of 21st century society, which is shaped by constant acceleration, this year's module will map out a new outlook on choreographic framework conditions. Among other things, lectures, discussions and bodywork will raise the issue of how substantial changes in dealing with time can be achieved in the sense of deceleration, and what the role of the performative arts and science will be.
Renowned International Faculty
In addition to choreographers and artists the renowned faculty includes experts from the fields of architecture, sociology, pedagogy, movement studies, communication and media theory. Focusing on a current issue, founding protagonist of Japanese butoh Yoshito Ohno will travel to Austria to celebrate deceleration. Directed by Sebastian Prantl, the seminar takes place at the unique atmosphere of the campus of Danube University Krems.
