-- TCL Communication moves forward in the mobile industry innovation by opening its 5G research Lab in France in line with its open innovation strategy

BARCELONA, Spain, March 4, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- TCL Communication Technology Holdings Limited ("TCL Communication"; HKSE stock code: 02618) today announced the launch of its 5G research lab in France. As a device pure player and the leader of the affordable smartphone market segment TCL Communication acknowledges the duty to contribute further to the industry innovation.

5G is expected to be a major enabler for the coming connected society thanks to disruptive communication capabilities. In particular, devices are foreseen to play a new role in the 5G context, being wiser, multiform and more cognitive. TCL Communication is determined to support this move. As a leader in consumer devices design TCL Communication is in the position to democratize the adoption of 5G devices and services ensuring that the new technology is affordable and meets all end-users' expectations. In this context, TCL Communication has decided to strengthen its continuous innovation efforts by enhancing its 5G research program.

The French 5G open research lab is a new component of TCL Communication's network of Innovation Labs which includes its incubators' programs in France and the USA and its fast prototyping Labs in China, in line with the company's open innovation strategy. The innovation generation will be fueled by collaborative works with French industrial partners and Universities. One structuring approach for this research Lab will be to design a reference 5G User Equipment which will accelerate collaborative end to end experimentations with other industry players at European and Worldwide scale. In the midterm the 5G research Lab will also contribute to demonstrate applications developed with the start-ups engaged in the TCL Communication Innovation Accelerator program.
