A recent survey identified that a third of people polled named Valentine's Day as the most popular day for wedding proposals. Women cited it as their ideal day to be proposed to, and men acknowledged it as their second favoured day to propose.
Fast forward to the wedding arrangements; with the average cost of a wedding in the range of £20,000, excluding the honeymoon, the 2014 bride and groom needs to be savvy about the wedding budget.
Couples are not only choosing to hold weekend-long stag and hen parties, another key expense generated by modern weddings are weekend-long weddings. The need to accommodate guests and families near to the venue becomes a real consideration. Kippsy.com surveyed over 150 wedding venue properties without accommodation and found that Kippsy local apartments and short-term lets were, on average, 35% cheaper than the local hotel options.
Phil Cooper, founder and managing director of Kippsy, says: "More couples are choosing to make their weddings an experience for their guests over a few days. A lot of guests prefer not to stay in the same hotel as the bridal party even if there is enough room, but they want to stay local to the wedding. Choosing a Kippsy apartment, provides the flexibility, privacy and being local to the celebrations - and at an affordable cost. We have over 1000 properties in our portfolio which is rapidly expanding."
