Commenting, Stobart Energy CEO, Richard Butcher, said: "We are delighted to forge this tighter relationship with Imperative Energy, one of the leading providers of biomass energy solutions in Ireland and the UK. The companies already have a close working relationship and we are attracted by the high quality nature of Imperative's installations to which we currently supply biomass fuel. Combining Imperative's high quality boilers and installation work with Stobart Energy's proven biomass supply abilities, this partnership can offer an appropriate solution for all end users needing a biomass energy supply." Mr Butcher has joined the board of Imperative Energy Holdings (UK) Ltd with immediate effect.
He added: "Just 2% of the 60 million TOE (tonnes of oil equivalent) UK heat market is currently provided by biomass. The continuing focus on sustainability, energy security and costs, and the supportive policy environment towards biomass, assures us that the fundamentals for growth of the biomass sector are already in place."
Imperative Energy CEO, Joe O'Carroll, said: "At Imperative Energy, we offer our customers a range of renewable energy solutions from turnkey provision of biomass heating and CHP to taking on the role of Project Developer where we design, finance, build and operate large scale biomass projects. Our installations are in place across the Government, healthcare, hospitality and processing (food and manufacturing) sectors, including a district heating system for all Irish State buildings between Kildare Street and Merrion Street in Dublin, Lancaster University, Southmead Hospital, Arden Lea Nurseries and Adelphi Distillery."
He added: "Coming so soon after our recent acquisition by the Gaelectric Group this partnership with Stobart Group is the part of the foundation on which we will build the next growth stage of our business. The Gaelectric Group has an established presence in four key renewable energy sectors, namely onshore wind on the island of Ireland and the USA, offshore wind in the Irish Sea, energy storage and biomass energy. Gaelectric's core strengths in project development, management and financing will bolster our resources in key areas including planning and permitting, project and corporate finance, construction management, energy markets and price optimisation, and contractual relationships on each of our projects. Added to the Stobart Group's unrivalled biomass supply credentials, Imperative Energy is set to make real gains in the UK biomass market."
