CRAWLEY, England, March 26, 2012 /PRNewswire/ --
OCS has recently been awarded an £8 million multi-service contract for a period of three years at Devonport Royal Dockyard, the largest naval site in Western Europe operated by Babcock Marine, where it has provided specialist cleaning services for 17 years. As part of a new joint venture with painting, scaffolding and containment systems partner Pyeroy, OCS delivers vital services which enable Devonport Dockyard in Plymouth to support the Royal Navy 365 days a year.
Head of Operations for Babcock Marine, Mike Weeks, commented: "OCS has been supporting warships at Devonport for over a decade now. In 2010, it was decided to trial a new partnering concept for tendering dockside services on HMS Bulwark's refit, and the results were outstanding. Subsequently a three year dockside services contract has been awarded to OCS and Pyeroy, working together as Dockside Services (Devonport) Limited. We believe this will deliver even greater value for money as we work closer together in key areas, and particularly on current and future works planning."
Services provided by OCS include specialist preparatory ship and submarine surface cleaning and continuous on-board cleaning for refit periods, as well as deep cleaning prior to the return of ship's company to the vessel. The company delivers a suite of other services in the surface ship and submarine refit programme, including first attack fire fighting, confined space rescue teams, hot work sentry, dockside and on-board security, and on-board catering support. The business is also responsible for cleaning of infrastructure and National Heritage sites and facilities around the dockyard.
