SheMed Launches At-Home PMOS Screening Kit, Connecting Women to Answers and Care
New screening service combines testing for up to 19 health markers, clinician review and personalised next steps in one platform
LONDON, Oct. 6, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- SheMed, a UK women's health company providing personalised metabolic care through at-home blood testing, clinician-led treatment and ongoing support, has announced the launch of its at-home PMOS screening kit. The new service helps women investigate symptoms associated with Polyendocrine Metabolic Ovarian Syndrome (PMOS), formerly known as Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS), providing a direct path from screening to clinical care.
The new service combines at-home blood testing for several metabolic and hormone markers with a personalised asynchronous review by SheMed's clinical team. Customers begin by completing a health questionnaire and taking a no-needle blood test at home. Clinicians then review their results and medical history to determine the potential indication of PMOS and appropriate next steps, including further assessment, treatment and ongoing monitoring.
The launch addresses a longstanding challenge in women's healthcare, as PMOS can cause reproductive, hormonal and metabolic symptoms that are often assessed separately, making it difficult for women to understand how they may be connected.
SheMed CEO and co-founder Olivia Ferro spent nearly a decade dealing with chronic pain, inflammation and metabolic symptoms before receiving her own PMOS diagnosis. Her experience helped shape SheMed's approach to women's metabolic healthcare, which places diagnostics and personalised clinical care at the centre of treatment.
"After spending nearly a decade trying to understand what was happening with my own health, I know how frustrating it is to experience symptoms without getting clear answers," said Olivia Ferro, CEO and co-founder of SheMed. "PMOS can affect so much more than periods or fertility, yet women are often left trying to connect the dots themselves. We built this screening service to give women a clearer picture of their health, access to clinicians who understand the condition, and a path forward based on their individual needs. It's the kind of care I wish I'd had when I was searching for answers."
The PMOS screening kit expands SheMed's existing metabolic healthcare platform, which combines at-home diagnostics, clinician-led treatment and ongoing support.
The new service includes:
- At-home screening: Blood testing for up to 19 health markers relevant to the assessment of PMOS and metabolic health.
- Personal clinical review: SheMed's clinical team reviews results alongside each woman's medical history and symptoms.
- A connected care pathway: Where clinically appropriate, women can access further assessment, discovery and treatment through SheMed without a routine handoff to their GP.
- Clear next steps: Women receive guidance based on their individual results, including when additional testing, treatment or ongoing health monitoring may be appropriate.
The screening service is designed to help women understand their health beyond their symptoms alone. PMOS can be associated with insulin resistance and other metabolic concerns, making a broader clinical assessment important when determining an appropriate care plan.
SheMed's wider platform also provides access to GLP-1 treatment for eligible patients. These medications may be considered for certain metabolic or weight-management needs following clinical assessment; they are not presented as a cure for PMOS.
The company has supported more than 100,000 women across the UK since its founding in 2024.
The PMOS screening kit will be available with a special introductory offer price. For more information, visit https://www.shemed.co.uk/pmos-screening.
