DatacenterDynamics selects Liam Newcombe for his 'relentless' contribution to the international data center and IT communities
Romonet, a leading provider of predictive modeling software, today announced that Chief Technology Officer, Liam Newcombe, has been awarded the prestigious DatacenterDynamics Outstanding Contribution to the Industry Award at the 2011 DatacenterDynamics Datacenter Leaders Awards gala held in London on December 15.
Recognised globally as a thought leader in the data center arena, Liam readily challenges convention to stimulate debate and collaboration to drive business innovation. With more than 20 years' experience in IT infrastructure, Liam is technical secretary to the British Computer Society (BCS) Data Center Specialist Group and has been a leading industry contributor to the European Commission's European Code of Conduct for Data Centers where he chaired the Data Center Best Practice Working Group, championing energy efficiency in every area of the industry. He was also personally involved in getting UK Government to adopt the code.
"As a co-founder of Romonet, Liam's expertise lies in tackling complex technical issues whilst placing strong emphasis on business drivers, cost and technology performance," said Rick Skett, Chairman of Romonet. "Liam also has strong end-to-end product development process and lifecycle design experience, and has proven over and over again his ability to define and create business-aligned technical solutions."
"I feel that I've accepted this award on behalf of the many people that I've worked with on the EU Code of Conduct and CEEDA (the Certified Energy Efficient Datacenter Award)," said Liam Newcombe, CTO. "From the point of view of the BCS, the people that take my theoretical work and make it something real in data centers make an equally important contribution to this industry."
This year's DatacenterDynamics Datacenter Leaders' Awards saw a record number of entries from more countries than ever before. The judging panel for this years' awards were unanimous in their selection of Liam for the Outstanding Contribution to the Industry Award for his 'relentless' contribution of knowledge and expertise to the international data center and IT communities over the past six years.
