DUBLIN, February 22, 2016 /PRNewswire/ --
The global mobile computer market is set to grow at a CAGR of 4.13% during the 2016-2020 period, as stated in a new report available from Research and Markets. The report notes that a shift from desktop computers to portable devices that offer the same capabilities is driving demand in this market. However, this predicted growth will be far higher according to the GSM Association, who today revealed data forecasting one billion new mobile phone subscribers by 2020.

GSMA's new study finds that although unique subscribers growth will be slower over the 2015-2020 period in comparison to previous years, around three-quarters of the global population will be connected to a mobile network by the end of the period. This will bring the total number of connected users to 5.6 billion. GSMA states that new growth opportunities will be found in areas such as machine to machine, 5G and the Internet of Things.
The global mobile content market is estimated to be worth USD 170 billion by 2019, as highlighted in a recent report. This figure could be notably higher if GSMA's forecast proves correct as content developers will seek to capitalize on a brand new market of one billion users.
The same can be said for a global mobile ad spending market set to grow at a CAGR of 38.12% by 2019, as estimated in another industry report. This forecast of one billion new mobile users will have a positive effect on a large number of related markets, from mobile hardware and software manufacturers to application developers, video game publishers and network providers.
