Tesla to showcase the OEM model of the future -- test drives for attendees during Intelligent Mobility and GIL 2016: Europe events
LONDON, June 13, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- No longer can cars be considered as metal hardware used mainly as a means of transport from A to B, no longer can OEMs wait for regulations to encourage innovation – connectivity is transforming the industry. Visionary partnerships with tech-companies and start-ups will prove essential for traditional car manufacturers. During Frost & Sullivan's Intelligent Mobility event, the panel debate "Future of Connectivity" will unite experts from different players and with varying approaches within the connectivity field. There is no company which would be better suited to demonstrate where the industry is heading than Tesla; hence Frost & Sullivan is delighted to offer attendees the chance to gain first-hand experience of the Tesla Model S, provided for test drives during the Intelligent Mobility event on the 29th of June as well as GIL 2016: Europe on the 30th of June.
In 2015, globally, 17.8 Million cars were sold with either embedded or tethered connectivity. This number is expected to grow to over 22.3 Million cars by 2016. OEMs are pushing towards connected cars enabling a seamless IoT ecosystem which can leverage data. Connectivity in cars, contextual services and cyber security will remain key themes for the automotive industry. The proliferation of data in the ecosystem will challenge incumbents and disruptors alike to realise additional revenue streams. The focus will be on smart mobility and positioning the car as a key element in a connected living environment. "Automakers understand that today's customer expects a connected value proposition both inside and outside the car," finds Frost & Sullivan Principal Consultant Niranjan Thiyagarajan. "Partnerships and collaborations are required to bring down walls and open doors to create a link between the car and the external environment."
As part of the Frost & Sullivan industry event "Intelligent Mobility" taking place on the 29th of June at the Jumeirah Carlton Hotel in London, the panel on Connectivity will evolve around the above topics and beyond. Highlights will be the contributions of Thomas Schmidt, Managing Director, TomTom Telematics, who will speak about the opportunities behind Data as a Service (DaaS) in an evolving ecosystem and Martin Hunt, Automotive Industry Practice Lead, BT Global Services, who will bring in an interesting perspective from Telecom Service providers and their value propositions that can support a connected future.
Beyond the panel on the future of connectivity, Intelligent Mobility will bring together industry experts on Mega Trends, autonomous business models, corporate mobility, integrated transport solutions as well as new mobility concepts. The conference will be complemented by a debate at the House of Lords and the Frost & Sullivan Intelligent Mobility Awards Banquet, a black tie evening and gala dinner.
