- 2013 event reports on key trends in a year of tremendous change for book trade
LONDON, Feb. 28, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Those who want to learn more about how the book market performed in 2012 and how consumer purchasing of both ebooks and print might change in 2013 can find out at the Bowker® 2013 Books & Consumers Conference, being held Wednesday, 20th March, at One Birdcage Walk, SW1, in Central London. The conference – a staple on the book community's calendar -- will reveal key trends in the book trade with an agenda that includes presentations from publishing expert Stephanie Barton on the dynamic children's and YA markets, a view of the current US book market, and an investigation into consumers' use of different retail channels.

"We will be reporting on a year in which the book trade has seen unprecedented change," said Jo Henry, director of Bowker Market Research, a service of ProQuest affiliate Bowker. "We're very excited about the exceptionally rich insights we're able to share from our expanded 2012 survey."
Data on market trends will be drawn from the 2012 Books & Consumers™ survey, which collects book-purchasing data from more than 36,000 book buyers each year. The research tracks key trends in genres, retailers, formats as well as consumer behavior, providing essential business information for publishers, book retailers and trade associations. It was expanded in 2012 to monitor book consumers' online and offline leisure activities, media readership, ownership of devices and library use. Collection of this new data enables much greater depth of understanding about how consumers discover and choose the books they buy, both online and offline.
Bowker currently has a special registration offer: book one seat and get the second seat for half the standard delegate rate of £130+VAT. Discounts are also available to IPG and SYP members. Bowker data presentations are available by email after the conference for just £75+VAT for delegates and £130+VAT for those unable to attend.
